Date and Location:
The International Symposium "Analytical Forum 2004" will be held in Warsaw (Poland) from 4 to 8 July 2004 under honorary auspices of the Federation of European Chemical Societies, the Polish Chemical Society and the Committee on Analytical Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences. The Symposium is an annual conference organized in different places in Poland and it continues the tradition of several Polish cyclic scientific meetings, such as e.g. Chromatographic Symposia in Toruń and "Chemistry Forum" in Warsaw. The 2004 Symposium, organized by the Faculty of Chemistry at the Warsaw University of Technology, will be devoted to separation techniques, mass spectrometry and hyphenated techniques, environmental monitoring and analysis and miniaturized analytical devices. The venue will be auditoria of The Main Building and The Chemistry Building of the Warsaw University of Technology, favorably located in a central quarter of Warsaw.
How to reach Symposium Site:
It guarantees regularly scheduled air service available from over 30 major air centers in Europe, as well as from North America and Far East.
The international trains arrive at the Warsaw Central Railway Station from major cities and European Capitals. The modern Eurocity (EC) trains offer regular services between major points of interest like: Warsaw - Berlin (6 h), Warsaw - Budapest (10 h), Warsaw - Prague (8 h) or Warsaw - Vienna (8 h).
Warsaw may be entered by car from the West (road 2), from the North (Road 61 or 18), from the East (road 2 or 17), as well as from South (road 7 or 8). In any case, direction Centrum should be followed. A number of local, private bus lines connect almost all leading Polish cities with other European countries such as France, Germany, Benelux, Austria, Italy, Great Britain and Denmark.
Polferries Polish Baltic Shipping Co. maintains regular ferry connections with Sweden and Denmark. Ferries departing from Copenhagen, Ystad or Stockholm reach the Polish northern towns - Gdansk and Swinoujscie.
Climate:
Poland lies in the zone of moderate climate, intermediate between the marine and continental climates and weather can be quite changeable. July is the hottest month, the temperature ranges from the low 70s F (20ºC) into low 90s F (30ºC). The entire of Poland lies in Central European Time, the same like Spain and France.
Currency and Credit Cards:
The currency unit in Poland is the Polish Zloty (PLN) which is subdivided into 100 grosze (gr). The current exchange rate to Euro and US dollar can be checked at www.oanda.com/converter/classic (choose PLN as the Polish currency code). In October 2003 it is about 4.5 PLN for each of the currencies. Delegates may change foreign currency and travellers cheques at several banks located in the centre of the city as well as in many exchange bureaus, at the railway station, at the airport or in many others places. International credit cards (VISA, MasterCard, American Express) are accepted in many hotels, restaurants, and cash machines.
Passport and Visa:
Foreigners wishing to visit Poland should have a valid passport. Citizens of some countries may not need a visa to visit Poland. Please contact with nearby Polish Embassy or consulate Office.
